We are pleased to announce that as of July 1, 2025, the Lupinski Funeral Home has relocated their family-owned funeral to 11 Wooster Place, New Haven, home of the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. Both businesses will remain independently owned. The Iovanne and Lupinski families have worked together serving the needs of the Greater New Haven community for more than forty years.
Francis and Tesse Uzarski Lupinski began work in the funeral business in 1934. Their mission was to serve the needs of the immigrant Polish community that had settled in the New Haven area. After a few years, they moved the business to 821 State Street and began operating as Lupinski Funeral Home.
Tesse soon became the first female licensed funeral director in the State of Connecticut. She successfully ran the family business for the next 28 years and became active in various church and civic groups.
In 1971, her youngest daughter Lucille, who obtained her license as a funeral director, joined her. They worked together providing their families with dedicated and compassionate service. Lucille took over operations of the family business in 1976 when Tesse retired. She, like her mother, was self-reliant and devoted to raising her daughter Angeline who became a licensed embalmer and funeral director in 1994. Angie took over the family business in 2013 after Lucille’s death.
Angie learned well from her grandmother and mother. She learned the importance of listening to every family and carrying out every wish, paying special attention to detail.
As a third-generation director, Angie carries on the tradition of providing quality, caring and compassionate support to her families just like her grandmother and mother did before her. In June 2000, we were married! Together we operate both funeral homes providing the highest level of service with respect and dignity. The decision to relocate Lupinski Funeral Home to Wooster Place was not made in haste. After careful consideration of the change in demographics of the neighborhood, ongoing road construction on State Street, among other issues, we decided it was in the best interest of the families we serve to move the funeral home to Wooster Place.
We are very happy to have both businesses under one roof that is fully staffed with 4 licensed directors. Our commitment to our heritage and respect for tradition is one of the foundations that has kept Lupinski Funeral Home thriving since 1934 and the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc., since 1928. We look forward to continuing to serve our community at 11 Wooster Place, New Haven, CT.
Bill and Angie Iovanne
